The Republic of Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Delivered an Intervention Regarding the Non-Aligned Movement at the Bali Democracy Forum
The Non-Aligned Movement Centre for South-South Technical Cooperation (NAM CSSTC) attended the Bali Democracy Forum, which was held in Nusa Dua, Bali, on December 8, 2022, as it does every year. Elnur Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, also attended the conference.
Mammadov's intervention conveyed the Government of Azerbaijan's efforts to raise international community awareness of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) as an organisation with the second highest number of member countries after the United Nations (UN). He stated that NAM's programmes, as well as the formation of the NAM Parliamentary Network, which brings together assembly members from NAM member countries, have contributed to the improvement of democracy.
Since 2019, Azerbaijan has served as chair of the NAM, succeeding the Bolivar Republic of Venezuela. Azerbaijan's chairmanship will be presided over by Uganda in 2023.
