Meeting with the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Fiji and the Embassy of the Republic of Fiji
Acting Director of the Non-Aligned Movement Centre for South-South Technical Cooperation (NAM CSSTC) Diar Nurbintoro was organising virtual meeting (11/5) with the Chief of the Economic Officer of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Fiji and the Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Fiji Isaac Grace.
The Republic of Fiji’s two delegations met Acting Director of NAM CSSTC to discuss a cooperation offer for enhancing technical capacity building, training, research and development (R&D).
In the opening, Diar said that the programmes offered by the Government of the Republic of Fiji comply with the NAM CSSTC-International Coconut Community (ICC) participant coconut project demands. He also responded favourably in the light of NAM CSSTC’s similar activities in the past with programmes related to product labelling, product packaging and hydroponic.
“We feel that the NAM Centre has the capacity to coordinate the trainings. We organise hydroponic activity for Myanmar two years ago as well as had a network of experts [from the Ministry of Agriculture of Indonesia in related fields],” Diar said.
Diar also encouraged the Republic of Fiji’s delegations to share the same enthusiasm and to cooperate to improve South-South Cooperation by explore virtual programmes that meet the needs of Fijians.
NAM CSSTC and the Government of the Republic of Fiji decided at the end, to devise programmes that could made available to Fiji based on the input from potential experts from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia.
