His Excellency Mr. Ronny Prasetyo Yuliantoro Attended Indian Ocean Rim Association High-Level Panel

Director for Non-Aligned Movement Centre for South-South Technical Cooperation (NAM CSSTC), His Excellency Mr. Ronny Prasetyo Yuliantoro attended “Indian Ocean Rim Association High-Level Panel on Enhancing Maritime Cooperation for the Inclusive Growth of Indian Ocean” on Saturday (12/8), where His Excellency became Panellist of “Promoting Sustainable Fisheries Management” session.
The Panel primarily encouraged participants to make new progress in dealing with fundamental maritime issues, including promotion of maritime security and safety, trade and investment, regional connectivity, sustainable fisheries management and tourism and cultural cooperation in Indian Ocean.
Panellists identified a series of challenges IORA Member States were facing as follows:
- Traditional and non-traditional maritime security and safety, including piracy, terrorism and smuggling.
- Development of maritime infrastructure, including high-infrastructure cost, economic disparity between productive and non-productive areas and one-way cargo.
- Eradication of Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing.
