NAM CSSTC was present during Ministerial Meeting of Non-Aligned Movement
The Non-Aligned Movement Centre for South-South Technical Cooperation (NAM CSSTC) attended the recent ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) held in Kampala, Uganda from January 17-18, 2024. The meeting centered on comprehensive reports from member states highlighting the enduring impact of NAM over the years with focus on “Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence.”
A pivotal moment in the gathering was the election of the new chairmanship, graciously handed over to Uganda from Azerbaijan. Remarkably, Azerbaijan demonstrated exemplary leadership over the past four years, particularly in navigating the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Under Azerbaijan's stewardship, NAM asserted its global significance, emphasizing its commitment to assisting those in need. Member countries presented detailed reports outlining the progress and concerns within their respective nations, with a collective focus on the global landscape.
The meeting witnessed heightened concern from numerous nations regarding the situation in Palestine, prompting calls for an immediate ceasefire. In a united stance, countries urged swift action to address the pressing issues.
As the meeting drew to a close, the newly appointed chair, the permanent mission of Uganda to the United Nations, expressed a commitment to fostering global cooperation. The emphasis was placed on working towards the Sustainable Development Goals of 2030, signaling a dedication to addressing the world's challenges through collaborative effort.
