NAM CSSTC Joins Asia Africa Festival 2026, Reinforcing the Spirit of Solidarity and South-South Cooperation
Bandung, Indonesia, 11–12 July 2026
The Non-Aligned Movement Centre for South-South Technical Cooperation (NAM CSSTC) participated in the Asia Africa Festival (AAF) 2026 at the invitation of the Mayor of Bandung, Mr. Muhammad Farhan. Held in Bandung from 11 to 12 July 2026 as part of the commemoration of the 71st Anniversary of the Asian-African Conference, the festival was organized by the Government of the City of Bandung to celebrate the enduring legacy of the 1955 Bandung Conference. Through a series of cultural and diplomatic activities, the event promoted friendship, mutual understanding, and collaboration among the countries and peoples of Asia and Africa while reaffirming the enduring relevance of the Bandung Spirit.
Carrying the theme "Unity in Diversity, Rising in Harmony," Asia Africa Festival 2026 served as both a cultural celebration and a platform for creative diplomacy. The three-day event featured a wide range of activities, including cultural carnivals, exhibitions, heritage area activations, and collaborative international programs designed to strengthen people-to-people connections and foster cooperation between Asian and African nations.
One of the festival's highlights was the Asia Africa Solidarity Walk, which brought together Ambassadors from Asia, Africa, and the Pacific. The walk symbolized the shared commitment of solidarity, friendship, and international cooperation, reflecting the values established during the historic Bandung Conference.
The festival also showcased a vibrant cultural parade featuring local communities, creative groups, and cultural performers who presented the rich artistic traditions and cultural diversity of their respective regions. International delegations from Malaysia, Fiji, and Rwanda joined the parade, further strengthening cultural diplomacy and demonstrating the close friendship between the peoples of Asia and Africa.
As an annual commemoration of the Bandung Spirit, the Asia Africa Festival continues to promote the values of peace, solidarity, collaboration, and cultural diplomacy for today's generation. The festival positions diversity as a foundation for building a more harmonious, inclusive, and sustainable future while encouraging greater mutual understanding among participating countries.
During the festival, NAM CSSTC was honoured to present its institutional profile video during the International Student Gathering, organized by the Telkom University. The event brought together ambassadors, diplomatic corps, and international students from universities across Bandung. The video profile provided an opportunity to introduce the Centre's mission and activities in promoting South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC), capacity building, and knowledge exchange among developing countries.
NAM CSSTC's participation in Asia Africa Festival 2026 reflects its continued commitment to advancing the Bandung Spirit through practical cooperation and international partnerships. As the only institution under the Non-Aligned Movement dedicated to capacity building and South-South Technical Cooperation, NAM CSSTC remains committed to serving as a bridge for knowledge sharing, partnership development, and sustainable development among developing countries.
Culture brings people together, dialogue deepens understanding, and solidarity shapes our shared future. That is the enduring spirit of the Asia-Africa Conference.
