NAM CSSTC Explores Strategic Cooperation with the Pacific Islands Development Forum
Jakarta, Indonesia, 19 June 2026
The Non-Aligned Movement Centre for South-South Technical Cooperation (NAM CSSTC) welcomed the Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF), Ms. Arpana Pratap, for a bilateral meeting aimed at exploring potential areas of collaboration and strengthening South-South cooperation between the two institutions.
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on the development priorities of Pacific Island countries and to identify practical avenues for future partnership. Discussions underscored the importance of fostering collaborative initiatives that respond to the evolving needs of developing countries while promoting knowledge sharing and capacity building.
One of the key themes discussed was the growing need for technology transfer and food security in Pacific Island countries. PIDF emphasized that strengthening agricultural resilience, particularly through the development of climate-smart farming practices, is becoming increasingly important in addressing the impacts of climate change. The production and availability of fresh vegetables remain a priority area in several Pacific nations, presenting opportunities for technical cooperation and knowledge exchange.
Recognizing these shared priorities, NAM CSSTC expressed its readiness to explore collaborative programs that leverage its experience in South-South and Triangular Cooperation, including capacity-building initiatives, technical training, and the exchange of best practices in sustainable development.
Through this engagement, NAM CSSTC reaffirms its commitment to serving as a platform for international collaboration and technical cooperation, supporting countries of the Global South in addressing common challenges through solidarity, shared expertise, and practical solutions.
Dialogue builds trust, cooperation creates opportunity, and solidarity delivers progress. Together, these principles reflect the enduring value of the NAM and the promise of South-South Cooperation.
