Ecuadorian Ambassador Visits NAM CSSTC to Explore Technical Cooperation Opportunities
Jakarta, 27 May 2025.
The Non-Aligned Movement Centre for South-South Technical Cooperation (NAM CSSTC) had the honour of receiving H.E. Luis Arellano Jibaja, Ambassador of the Republic of Ecuador to Indonesia, accompanied by Mr. Pablo Bonifaz Arboleda, Deputy Chief of Mission, at the NAM CSSTC office in Jakarta.
The visit served as an opportunity to explore potential avenues for technical cooperation and Ecuador’s participation in NAM CSSTC capacity-building programmes.
During the meeting, the Director of NAM CSSTC, H.E. Diar Nurbintoro provided an overview of its mandates and initiatives, particularly in delivering training and development programmes to NAM member countries. Emphasis was placed on how these programmes often target grassroots beneficiaries such as small-scale entrepreneurs, with the aim of generating more tangible and sustainable impacts on local communities.
The Ambassador was also briefed on NAM CSSTC’s collaborative approach in implementing its activities—working closely with partner institutions such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia and the Indonesian Agency for International Development (LDKPI/Indonesian Aid)—to ensure programmatic success despite budgetary limitations.
H.E. Ambassador Luis Arellano expressed Ecuador’s interest in establishing cooperation with NAM CSSTC and inquired about possible mechanisms for collaboration. In response, NAM CSSTC explained that engagement typically begins with a formal request from a member country, which is then discussed with relevant partners to explore implementation possibilities.
The discussion also covered Ecuador’s ongoing “Fire-Free Amazon Program,” in which NAM CSSTC’s potential involvement through technical or programmatic support was welcomed. It was noted that meaningful collaboration can be achieved even with modest funding, provided there is a shared commitment to the objectives.
NAM CSSTC looks forward to further dialogue with the Embassy of Ecuador and is committed to identifying concrete collaboration opportunities that support the shared development goals of both institutions.
