NAM CSSTC Strengthens South-South Cooperation at 60th ICC Session and Ministerial Meeting
Colombo, Sri Lanka – 25-28 November 2024.
From November 25 to 28, 2024, the Non-Aligned Movement Centre for South-South Technical Cooperation (NAM CSSTC) participated in the 60th ICC Session and Ministerial Meeting, hosted by the International Coconut Community (ICC) in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The event brought together delegations from 21 ICC member countries, along with partner organizations and international observers, to discuss strategic issues for the sustainable development of the coconut industry, including cultivation, processing, marketing, and trade.
During the session, H.E. Ambassador Diar Nurbintoro, Director of NAM CSSTC, was allocated 10 minutes to deliver a presentation. In his remarks, he provided an overview of NAM CSSTC's engagement in the coconut sector, emphasizing its initiatives and collaboration with the ICC to address shared challenges. Ambassador Diar highlighted the role of South-South cooperation in fostering knowledge exchange, skill development, and sustainable practices to empower communities and ensure the sector's longevity in member countries.
Dr. Jelfina C. Alouw, Director General of ICC, expressed her appreciation for NAM CSSTC’s involvement and commitment to advancing the coconut industry. She reiterated the importance of collaboration and the need for initiatives that promote sustainable growth, fair incomes for farmers, and competitiveness in global markets.
“This session provides an invaluable platform to strengthen partnerships and drive impactful solutions for the coconut sector,” Ambassador Diar remarked. NAM-CSSTC reaffirmed its dedication to working with the ICC and its member countries to create meaningful change and build a resilient future for the coconut industry.
