NAM CSSTC’s Participation at the Second Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) and High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF-MSP) 2024 in Bali

The Non-Aligned Movement Centre for South-South Technical Cooperation (NAM CSSTC) has participated at the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) and High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF-MSP), in Nusa Dua, Bali. During these events, NAM CSSTC was present as an exhibitor joining the Indonesia South-South Cooperation booth at the HLF-MSP. Aside from attending the event as an exhibitor, NAM CSSTC has also succeeded in putting forward its goals and strengthening its efforts and collaborations with other organizations for NAM member countries. Following are several bilateral meetings that the Centre achieved to conclude:
Bilateral Meeting with the Representative of Uganda
On September 3rd 2024, The Director of the NAM CSSTC, H.E. Ambassador Diar Nurbintoro was pleased and honored to be given the chance to welcome and meet with Uganda’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of International Cooperation, Mr. Oryem Henry Okello in between the packed schedules of the 2nd IAF at the Mulia Hotel Bali. The main purpose of this meeting was to ask for and gain Uganda’s support for the potential NAM countries’ Briefing Session at the UN GA’s Ambassadorial Meeting.
Ambassador Diar Nurbintoro emphasized NAM CSSTC’s commitment to strengthen the collaboration between NAM member countries in accordance with NAM’s vision and mission, led by Uganda as the President of NAM. In this context, NAM CSSTC asked for Uganda’s full support in making the above-mentioned Briefing Session happen.
Moreover, both NAM CSSTC and Uganda also discussed the possible joint collaborations and programmes between the two parties, focusing on the development of the palm oil trees industry and capacity in Uganda. During this discussion, Uganda expressed their needs for NAM CSSTC’s support, especially in cultivation, processing, and production. In response, NAM CSSTC stated their readiness to facilitate this matter, which is in line with their commitment to South-South Cooperation.
Bilateral Meeting with the Representative of South Centre
The Director of the NAM CSSTC, H.E. Ambassador Diar Nurbintoro had a fruitful discussion with the Executive Director of the South Centre (SC), Mr. Carlos M. Correa at the Bali International Convention Center (BICC). During this meeting, the South Center stated its focus on capacity-building programmes. Additionally, the Director also discussed the possible collaborations that are in line with SC’s current programmes. This opportunity should still be explored further through dialogues and in-depth discussions to create a win-win synergy and collaboration for both parties.
Bilateral Meeting with the Representative of UNCTAD
The Director of NAM CSSTC also had an opportunity for a bilateral meeting with the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Mrs. Rebeca Grynspan, at the Bali International Convention Center (BICC). During the meeting, NAM CSSTC expressed their need for UNCTAD’s support and collaboration in programmes. In response, the UNCTAD welcomed NAM CSSTC’s initiative for future collaborations, as it is in accordance with UNCTAD’s objectives in facilitating International Cooperation to achieve sustainable development.
The UNCTAD also suggested that NAM CSSTC can widen its outreach for support and also consider reaching out to other organizations, as it is now becoming more crucial that international organizations and institutions come together to create and achieve common goals in advancing a sustainable future.
Bilateral Meeting with the Representative of IsdB
The Director of NAM CSSTC, Ambassador Diar Nurbintoro also met with the Lead Technical Cooperation Specialist, Reverse Linkage (Asia) Cooperation and Capacity Development of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Mr. Aminuddin Mat Ariff, at the Bali International Convention Center (BICC). At this meeting, IsDB admitted to having the ability to support programmes in various countries. However, for the non-member countries of IsDB, the support would, unfortunately, be limited to only the programmes that benefit the Islamic communities.
Both parties also had a detailed discussion about future projects and NAM CSSTC’s strategies in realizing these future collaborations with IsDB. In the end, Mr. Ariff also expressed his support for NAM CSSTC’s planned programmes in the palm oil trees industry that was requested by Uganda. (Susin Reksa Putri).
