with Enthusiastic Opening Ceremony

Padang, Indonesia – 20 May 2024

Continuing the successful collaboration from the online training program organized by the Non-Aligned Movement Centre for South-South Technical Cooperation (NAM CSSTC), the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, and Polytechnic Academy of Industrial Engineering (ATI) Padang on September 2023, offline training program commenced on May 20th, 2024 in Padang. The opening ceremony held at the Mercure Hotel Padang, brought together industry leaders, educators, and international participants, marking the start of a comprehensive training initiative aimed at enhancing coconut production and socio-economic conditions.

The Director of NAM CSSTC, H.E. Diar Nurbintoro, extended a cordial welcome and expressed optimism that the results of this training would assist in resolving the numerous challenges confronting the coconut industry. Specifically, aimed to take advantage of the industry's superior coconut production capabilities, enhance the value of coconut products, and establish a sustainable and efficient coconut sector in the Caribbean and beyond, which emphasized the significance of knowledge exchange and international cooperation in attaining agricultural diversification.

After the introductory remarks of distinguished guests, all nineteen participants representing nine countries proceeded to introduce themselves. This session fostered connections among the participants, thereby establishing an atmosphere of collaboration for the subsequent training. Following the commencement of the event, a preliminary assessment was conducted to evaluate the participants' initial grasp of the subject matter. The purpose of this assessment was to identify any areas where participants may need additional training, to ensure that the subsequent sessions are tailored to their specific needs and offering valuable insights that will serve the groundwork for the following comprehensive training modules.

The opening ceremony concluded smoothly and the attendees departed with a feeling of excitement, eager to embark on the training journey designed to enhance their skills. This training program underscores the Indonesian Ministry of Industry's commitment to leveraging education and international cooperation to address global agricultural challenges. By focusing on capacity building and diversification, the program aims to drive economic growth and improve the livelihoods of those engaged in the coconut industry across various countries.
