NAM CSSTC and Islamic Development Bank Explore Collaborative Opportunities for Sustainable Development
The Non-Aligned Movement Centre for South-South Technical Cooperation (NAM CSSTC) took a significant step towards fostering collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) during a bilateral meeting held in Kampala. The meeting, which transpired on 20 January 2024, attended by H.E. Ambassador Diar Nurbintoro, Director of NAM CSSTC and H.E. Dr. Issahaq Umar Iddrisu, the Regional Hub Manager and Head of Office for IsDB.
Ambassador Nurbintoro presented an overview of the ongoing programs at NAM CSSTC, emphasizing the organization's commitment to capacity building. Notably, he highlighted that among the 121 member countries of NAM, only one country is currently contributing, posing a challenge to their capacity-building initiatives. Despite these challenges, the Director expressed optimism about the potential for future collaborations.
During the discussions, the IsDB representative acknowledged the importance of NAM CSSTC's work and expressed a keen interest in exploring further partnerships. The prospect of joint initiatives focusing on exchanging experts and enhancing capacity building in developing countries emerged as a promising collaboration.
The meeting underscored the potential for creating innovative programs that could significantly benefit developing nations, particularly in the realm of sustainability. Both parties recognized the need to pool resources and expertise to address common challenges faced by developing countries.
