International Coconut Development in Confident Progress, NAM CSSTC Attends the ICC 59th Session and Ministering Meeting
Lampung, December 5-7, 2023 - As a forerunner in coconut development assistance, NAM CSSTC was cordially invited to the International Coconut Community (ICC) 59th Session and Ministerial Meeting, which is an annual meeting to deliberate and produce policy decisions that are needed to be undertaken by the Community for sustainable development in the global coconut sector as an observer organization.
In this year’s meeting, Indonesia received the honor in holding the session as the Chair of the ICC in 2022-2023, embarking on a future of sustainable coconut development. The Session is further hoped to identify and address potential challenges from fruitful discussions and deliberations of past experiences, insights, and programs for a collaborative prosperous and sustainable future of the international community.
The three-day long session highlighted the ICC 5-Year Strategic Plan, as well as reviewing its past programs and annual developments of the global coconut sector. In this light, NAM CSSTC’s Director, Ambassador Diar Nurbintoro, portrayed its fundamental involvement in the coconut sector. Its past activities include hosting virtual webinars on economic benefits of coconut during Covid-19, international sponsorships for certification in coconut development, and conducting standardized coconut based product training. Thus, underlining NAM CSSTC’s role in supporting countries with potential in the coconut sector.
Further, the Session provides an optimistic perspective of future collaboration for NAM CSSTC and member states in coconut development, considering the opportunistic strategies provided amongst the discussions.(Chrystle Feodore Manlee).
