NAM CSSTC Director Meets South African Ambassador to Foster Collaboration
In a diplomatic outreach effort, Diar Nurbintoro, the Director of the Non-Aligned Movement Centre for South-South Technical Cooperation (NAM CSSTC), recently paid a courtesy call to the Ambassador of South Africa to Indonesia, MK. Lekgoro on August 28, 2023. The objective of this visit was to acquaint the newly appointed Ambassador with the NAM CSSTC and the significant role his position as South African Ambassador holds within the organization, as one of the NAM CSSTC’s Governing Council Members. South Africa is poised to represent NAM member countries from Africa, wielding influence over the annual program planning of NAM CSSTC.
During the meeting, NAM CSSTC provided Ambassador Lekgoro with insights into its recent initiatives involving African nations. These initiatives included the Online Training Course on Rice Plant Management in 2022 and the Online Training Course on Hydroponics in 2021. NAM CSSTC’s endeavors encompass a wide range of areas, including Agriculture and Food Security, Energy and Environment, Trade and Marketing, as well as Education and Health, all designed to benefit NAM member countries in Africa.
As the courtesy call drew to a close, Ambassador Lekgoro expressed his keen interest in participating in regular Governing Council Meetings. He also conveyed his eagerness to learn more about the programs and initiatives that NAM CSSTC is capable of conducting. This interest stems from a desire to explore potential technical assistance or training program ideas that South Africa might contribute to NAM CSSTC’s portfolio.
This diplomatic exchange marks a significant step in fostering collaboration between NAM CSSTC and South Africa, highlighting the shared commitment to advancing technical cooperation and development in the global community.
