NAM CSSTC Presents Its 2023 Programmes to IFC
Non-Aligned Movement Centre for South-South Technical Cooperation (NAM CSSTC) gave a presentation on its 2023 programmes to International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of World Bank Group, on March 3, 2023. The presentation was part of NAM CSSTC’s effort to seek support and cooperation from international financial institutions in implementing its programmes.
NAM CSSTC is an organisation established by member countries of Non-Aligned Movement to promote technical cooperation among developing countries. NAM CSSTC has a mission to help developing countries achieve sustainable economic growth, inclusive social development, and effective environmental protection through exchange of knowledge, expertise, experience, and best practices in strategic fields.
In the presentation, NAM CSSTC outlined nine projects proposed for implementation in 2023. The projects include a seminar on tissue culture techniques for coconut plants, an international certificate training for coconut development officers, a training on fish-rice farming, a training on entrepreneurship for women and youth, a scholarship project for international students in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields, and others. The projects aim to enhance capacity, knowledge transfer, and technology development in the identified fields.
NAM CSSTC also explained the importance of the projects in addressing key challenges faced by developing countries, such as poverty, food security, and economic development. Moreover, NAM CSSTC also showed how the projects contribute to United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and align with World Bank’s priorities.
The presentation received positive feedback from IFC, which appreciated NAM CSSTC’s effort in enhancing south-south cooperation. IFC also expressed its willingness to forward NAM CSSTC’s documents to the main World Bank unit that deals with governments. IFC also gave advice and input to NAM CSSTC to improve the quality and feasibility of its projects.
