PREFACE
In
line with its mission, NAM CSSTC is intended to function as an effective
means of pooling and enhancing the resources, expertise and experience
of development schemes that have proven to be successful in generating
community self-reliance and partnerships in development, especially
those that are addressing the common needs and critical issues of
developing countries. NAM CSSTC assumes that it should complement the
existing centres within the Non-Aligned Movement. The
Board of Directors decided to conduct a consultative meeting of NAM
Cooperation Centres which have existed and spread out around the globe.
It is believed that synergy
derived from such consultation among NAM centres
will empower the cooperation to heighten the performances of
programmes of the respective centres. The
Consultative Meeting of NAM Cooperation Centres was conducted in Jakarta
on 31 October – 1 November 2002. The
meeting was intended to explore areas in which the Centres could
cooperate and complement each other. It was also exploring possibilities
to enhance the level of technical cooperation among NAM and other
developing countries. The Government of the Republic of Indonesia financed this meeting.
