Senior Programme Officer of International IDEA – Asia & the Pacific Expressed His Intention to Build Cooperation in the Implementation of Programme in North Korea
Senior Programme Officer of International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) – Asia & the Pacific, Adhy Aman expressed his intention to build cooperation in the implementation of capacity building programme in North Korea. This was revealed by Aman while speaking at an exploratory meeting held at the Secretariat of the Non-Aligned Movement Centre for South-South Technical Cooperation (NAM CSSTC), Jakarta, Indonesia, on Thursday, (1/2/2018).
Aman said that the programme will be intended to observe and study political practice and democracy in North Korea.
He also informed NAM CSSTC that he has a network of North Korean citizen who is currently completing study in Sweden. Nevertheless, International IDEA considers establishing partnership with NAM CSSTC since North Korea is one of NAM member country.
Aman hoped that relationship between the NAM CSSTC and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia (MOFA) will be able to facilitate access for capacity building programme in North Korea through Indonesian Embassy in Pyongyang.
Assistant Director for Programme of NAM CSSTC, Niken Supraba, responded by exposing criteria of programme activities supported by NAM CSSTC, one of which is demand-driven. There was no demand from North Korean government regarding implementation of capacity building programme in the fields of politics and democracy.
Niken went on by suggesting Aman to consider implementing programme outside North Korean territory.
