The Director of NAM CSSTC Visited the Office of CAPSA (Centre for Alleviation of Poverty through Sustainable Agriculture)
On August 29, 2017, the Director of NAM CSSTC, H.E. Prianti Gagarin Djatmiko-Singgih visited CAPSA office in Bogor and had a meeting with the Director of CAPSA, Dr. Masakazu Ichimura. CAPSA is the Centre for Alleviation of Poverty through Sustainable Agriculture under UNESCAP. The Director also regretfully expressed her inability to participate in the 14th session of the Governing Council of the CAPSA scheduled on December13, 2017 in Bangkok due to pior engagement abroad.
The meeting is to discuss future cooperation between the two institutions as they bear common mission to alleviate poverty in developing countries through capacity building program activities. The Director of NAM CSSTC shared that its program activities for 2018 shall include the theme of blue economy especially for the villages located on coastal area, women empowerment, poverty alleviation through agriculture and rural empowerment.
The Director of CAPSA informed that CAPSA mandate is not limited to the agricultural sector only but it covers the rural sectors including renewable energy to assist the ESCAP members in implementing the SDGs targets. In relation with the NAM CSSTC program activities the Director of CAPSA expressed his interest to support the Center in a synergical manner through i.a serving as a resource person based on his core competences in the themes of renewable energy and dry land agriculture.
